MONICA'S REVIEW:
Ok, I think this one qualifies as the worst episode of the season. It was all over the place
and was hard to understand what was going on and why. The one redeeming thing about this
episode was the sequence where Jeremiah and Kurdy go on their mushroom trip. That had me
laughing out loud! Still, there were so many things that bothered me about this episode, that
it went straight to the bottom of the heap.
If you haven't seen Jeremiah yet, don't let this episode be your first exposure to the show.
In fact, feel free to skip it altogether. ;) Your time would be better spent watching The Long Road (Part 1)
or Firewall instead.
There was a nod to the arc when Jeremiah and Kurdy talked about the reward that Theo gave
them for saving her life. It was an awfully elaborate (and expensive?) scheme for her to set up
... especially since it didn't work. Surely, there must be easier ways to kill or maim
Jeremiah? I just didn't understand how the whole thing was supposed to work, but I assume the
ladies were in on it to begin with if it was all a set up. So, after spending one night with
Jeremiah and Kurdy, they change their mind and end up helping them instead? How else was
Desault going to get Jeremiah in the ring? Pah.
Also, the fact that Polly thought she could just waltz back into her daughter's life really
bugged me. I understood Gregory's anger and caution that he took when he saw Polly again. I
also noticed how convenient it was that Gregory never asked where she was all this time and
that she never volunteered it. That would be the first thing I would ask! I think she pushed
too hard with China and really was being selfish. As much as I like happy endings, I
didn't find this one believable at all. Instead, it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

QUESTIONS RAISED:
- Why does "saving Theo's life come at a price"? Is she really that much of a bitch or does
she simply not want to owe them for anything?
- Why can't the ladies of the Lithia Inn ever leave? What is stopping them?
- Why didn't Jeremiah find out about the odds of fighting before agreeing to fight for
Polly?
- For that matter, why didn't Jeremiah question Polly's intentions and motivations for
reuniting with her daughter -before- he agreed to fight for her?
- Jeremiah is still narrating letters to his father, but is he still burning them?
